Today, Autism SA needs your financial assistance to continue to provide services and support to more than 5,795 individuals and their families living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

 

A message from Anthea Rice, Manager Fundraising and Communications at Autism SA…

Since my appointment as Manager Fundraising and Communications in January 2011, I have been inspired by the many Autism SA families that have shared their experiences of living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

It is heartening to know that, despite their daily struggles, many families focus on what can be done to help promote community awareness to facilitate an inclusive community that values individuals and families living with an ASD.

It is no secret that the prevalence of ASDs is increasing but the reality is that associated funding is not keeping pace. We need your help to continue providing services and support to the 5,795 South Australians registered for services with Autism SA who are living with an ASD.

Autism SA is the first point of call for people who have an ASD diagnosis. Last financial year we received more than 3,600 calls to the Autism SA Info Line. People turn to us for support because we have more than 45 years of experience in providing support to people living with an ASD. The services that we provide across the lifespan include: diagnostic services, early intervention, school support, spectrum advisory services and community services. Unfortunately, funding does not match the demand for our services and many who turn to us miss out on receiving our life enhancing support.

Your philanthropic support plays an important role in the programs and services we can provide and it is vital to our organisation. The 2010 Annual Appeal helped fund four major projects: the upgrade of the Foundation Skills Playground, funding towards IT equipment for the School Inclusion Program, the purchase of specialised equipment and resources in the Community Services Program and funding to provide a range of front-line services across the lifespan to support families, individuals and communities who experience ASD. These projects are now underway and are helping to make a positive difference in our community.

This financial year, please consider making a tax deductible donation to support the work of Autism SA and help us continue to make a difference to the lives of more than 5,795 individuals and their families whom we support. It is our goal to bridge the unmet need and to have the resources to accommodate everyone that turns to us and to achieve this we need your help.
